Challenge
Lightweight exhaust required for sports car. Target 50% weight reduction vs stainless steel. Must withstand 800°C.
Solution
Headers: Grade 2 mandrel bent 1.5mm wall. Collector/muffler: Grade 5 sheet. Flanges: Grade 5 CNC machined. TIG welded with ERTi-2.
Result
Weight 7.2 kg vs 14.8 kg = 51% reduction. Continuous 800°C operation. No corrosion after 50000 km.
